Shaun McInnis has given Call of Duty fans an insider look at the newest installment “” which is scheduled for release later this year…

Last year’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was more that just a great game. It took a series that made a name for itself under the rich tapestry of World War II and pushed it some 60 years into the future. The end result was a game that used the latest advances in weaponry, in a setting influenced by some of today’s most tense conflicts, to produce an experience both stirring and refreshing. Since then, the big question on everyone’s mind has been this: What will they do with the fifth Call of Duty? The answer, we know now, is a return to World War II. But rather than a step backward, Call of Duty: World at War is shaping up to be a unique take on this familiar timeline. With part of the campaign set in the often-overlooked Pacific theatre and plenty of inspiration drawn from Modern Warfare–both technical and creative–developer Treyarch is aiming to prove there’s still life left in the World War II shooter.

The most immediately apparent of the inspirations drawn from Modern Warfare is the mature, at times brutal form of storytelling. World at War begins with your character tied up in a hut on the beach of the Makin Atoll. A Japanese officer stands in front of you, demanding information from a fellow marine. An uncooperative spit to the face later, the officer puts his lit cigarette out on the face of this bound soldier and uses a knife to put a particularly bloody end to his suffering. But before you meet with a similar fate, backup arrives and you stage your escape. Pistol in hand, you’re ready to begin World at War’s first level.

Announced at GameSpot the third sequel to Guitar Hero will be hitting the shelves sometime this fall. Activision and developer Neversoft showed off World Tour’s new guitar, which will feature a multipurpose “touch strip” that, among other uses, accommodates DragonForce-style finger-tapping solos and adds a distortion effect separate from the standard whammy bar.

As previously announced, all tunes in World Tour will be master tracks, and the game’s creators also teased the first few tunes from its substantive roster. During the media briefing, Neversoft performed Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell,” The Foo Fighters’ “Everlong,” and Sublime’s “Santeria,” and said that Linkin Park, Van Halen, and The Eagles would also lend tracks to the game. As per the Intellisponse leak, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Smashing Pumpkins, Korn, System of a Down, Ozzy Osbourne, Interpol, and Muse are also rumored to be part of that setlist, which will include roughly 85 songs in total.

Guitar Hero: World Tour will be available on the the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and Wii this fall. The pricing information for this ear shattering release is yet to be announced but rumors speculate the bundle will be priced between $179 and $189.

Buzzard from GameBuzzard.com posted this article a few days…
Studio head Vince Zampella declined to break down sales by the game’s various platforms (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and DS), but he did say that the Xbox 360 edition had been the most successful to date breaking the 10 million mark. Only a handful of games can make that statement and don’t look for COD4 or 5 to make a debut on thw Wii. As Zampella explains “It just doesn’t fit on the Wii, we thought it would be compromised to be on [that] platform.” I agree with Zampella all the way. The target audience for the Wii isn’t even the same as it is for Xbox 360 or PS3 and wouldn’t work.

According to Wikipedia, this is a breakdown on the sale of the initial 7 million 4 units up until January 2008….

In the US, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions sold 1.57 million and 444,000 units, respectively, in November 2007. 1.47 million units of the Xbox 360 version were sold in December 2007. The game sold 331,000 copies for the Xbox 360 and 140,000 copies for the PlayStation 3 in January 2008. The Xbox 360 version was the third best-selling video game of 2007 in the U.S. with 3.04 million units sold, behind Halo 3 which sold 4.82 million units, according to the NPD Group. As of January 2008, Call of Duty 4 has sold more than seven million copies worldwide, and was the best-selling game of 2007.

If you’re one of the few rabid gamers who hasn’t already bought this amazing game that delivers an added depth of multiplayer action providing online fans an all-new community of persistence and customizable gameplay, you should consider the special Game of the Year Edition of Call of Duty 4 which includes a token to download the Variety Map Pack, a series of four new multiplayer maps.
