Buzzard from GameBuzzard.com posted this article a few days…
Studio head Vince Zampella declined to break down sales by the game’s various platforms (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and DS), but he did say that the Xbox 360 edition had been the most successful to date breaking the 10 million mark. Only a handful of games can make that statement and don’t look for COD4 or 5 to make a debut on thw Wii. As Zampella explains “It just doesn’t fit on the Wii, we thought it would be compromised to be on [that] platform.” I agree with Zampella all the way. The target audience for the Wii isn’t even the same as it is for Xbox 360 or PS3 and wouldn’t work.

According to Wikipedia, this is a breakdown on the sale of the initial 7 million 4 units up until January 2008….

In the US, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions sold 1.57 million and 444,000 units, respectively, in November 2007. 1.47 million units of the Xbox 360 version were sold in December 2007. The game sold 331,000 copies for the Xbox 360 and 140,000 copies for the PlayStation 3 in January 2008. The Xbox 360 version was the third best-selling video game of 2007 in the U.S. with 3.04 million units sold, behind Halo 3 which sold 4.82 million units, according to the NPD Group. As of January 2008, Call of Duty 4 has sold more than seven million copies worldwide, and was the best-selling game of 2007.

If you’re one of the few rabid gamers who hasn’t already bought this amazing game that delivers an added depth of multiplayer action providing online fans an all-new community of persistence and customizable gameplay, you should consider the special Game of the Year Edition of Call of Duty 4 which includes a token to download the Variety Map Pack, a series of four new multiplayer maps.
